Philosophy
At Boreal Forest Expeditions, we believe in the transformative power of nature. Our philosophy is rooted in respect for the wilderness and the ancient skills that have been passed down through generations. We teach participants how to live in harmony with the land, emphasizing the importance of sustainability, self-reliance, and personal growth.
For us, the true adventure is not about conquering nature but about understanding and respecting it. We strive to leave no trace, honoring the landscapes we explore and helping our clients leave with a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the cultures that thrive in it.
My connection to nature began early in Oxfordshire, where I grew up and spent most of my time playing outdoors. At the age of eight, after my family relocated to Tuscany, I began attending a summer camp where traditional bushcraft skills were taught, such as handling a knife, building a shelter, and starting a fire. It was at that moment that a passion for bushcraft and wilderness travel ignited in me—a passion that would shape my future in the years to come.

In 2005, after completing high school at the age of 18, I attended the Fundamental Bushcraft course with Ray Mears in England, which deepened my commitment to bushcraft. During summers, I returned to Green Energy Camp to help out, and in the winters, I worked in Florence’s tourism sector. Eventually, I wanted to travel and explore more, finding short-term jobs along the way to support this passion.

This journey led me to Lapland, where I started guiding for resorts and outdoor companies, gaining hands-on experience in the industry. A few years later, I enrolled in a winter survival course that reignited my enthusiasm for traditional wilderness skills and inspired me to found Boreal Forest Expeditions.

Since moving permanently to Lapland in 2022, I’ve dedicated myself fully to this venture. In my free time, I enjoy skiing and canoeing, methods of travel that allow me to connect with nature and appreciate its rhythms and cycles. I also share my experiences through writing, with articles published on my blog and in the UK Bushcraft magazine.

I feel incredibly fortunate to call Lapland home and look forward to sharing its beauty and challenges with others.
